9Crowe and Beyonce remake A Star Is Born
Russell Crowe is set to share the screen with singing star Beyonce in a forthcoming remake of the classic motion picture A Star Is Born.
Oscar winner Robert Downey, Jr. had been slotted for the lead role, but the “Gladiator” star has apparently replaced him, according to London’s Daily Star.
Crowe will reportedly play an aging alcoholic musician who mentors and falls in love with a talented young star, portrayed by the “Single Ladies” singer.
Nick Cassavettes has been tapped to helm the movie musical, which is rumored to feature Mad Men’s Jon Hamm and songbirds Alicia Keys and Rihanna.
A Star Is Born first struck box office gold in the 1930s and has been reworked twice since its debut: first with Judy Garland and James Mason in 1957 and then with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson taking the leads in 1976.
